DRUG and ALCOHOL FREE

…Are You?

They hear you.

Research shows that parents are the #1 reason young people decide not to drink.

They really do hear you…

Talk - They Hear You

She gets her hair from her mom.

Her eyes from her dad.

…and her drugs from her grandma’s medicine cabinet.

BE AWARE. DON’T SHARE. LOCK YOUR MEDS.

Our Vision

To be a community that empowers youth to reach their full potential through education, resources, and support.

Mission Statement

We plan an implement strategies that prevent and reduce youth substance use and its associated consequences through community and parish-wide collaborative efforts. While the focus is on youth, programs and services shall also target adults, businesses, the faith-based community, families, and other indicated populations.

When parents talk to their children, their children are

%

less likely to try drugs and more likely to succeed in life

It is never too early to start talking about underage drinking

The Coalition Focuses On:

Identifying and addressing youth substance use in Webster Parish while developing community-based and environmental strategies to prevent and/or mitigate the consequences associated with substance use and abuse issues

Developing and strengthening community partnerships in Webster Parish while working together to create a healthier and safer environment in the community for youth, as well as all residents, as it relates to substance use and abuse issues

Connecting prevention efforts in the community with treatment and recovery efforts so as to provide a more holistic approach to preventing and reducing substance use and abuse issues among youth and adults in the community

Using data-driven decisions to create and sustain overall efforts in the community around prevention and reduction of youth substance abuse

Providing education to all community residents regarding substance use and abuse along with the means of preventing related and associated consequences

OUR HISTORY

In 2017, Webster Parish was selected by the Louisiana Dept. of Health to receive support in order to establish a community-based coalition to combat the use of alcohol and other drugs by the young people in our community. The Webster Prevention Alliance will enhance collaboration between the school system and community organizations in the prevention of youth substance use.
